Meet Our Team

Dr. Ryan Bessette PT, DPT

I’m Ryan, founder of Black Sheep Physical Therapy & Performance. I studied exercise physiology before earning my Doctorate of Physical Therapy, both at Umass Lowell.

I opened Black Sheep right out of school because I wanted to offer physical therapy in Burlington that I’d want for myself: full-hour, one-on-one sessions with a real plan behind them.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find me training and playing any sport I can, so I understand what it means to want to get back to the things you love.

If you’ve been searching for a physical therapist in Burlington who will listen, explain things clearly, and treat you like a person instead of a case number, I’d love to meet you.

Dr. Nicole Stone PT, DPT

Hi, I’m Nicole, a Physical Therapist at Black Sheep Physical Therapy. I studied Exercise Science at the University of Rhode Island before pursuing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at American International College.

I started working with Ryan because of one common vision: providing true 1:1 care through individualized treatment plans that are tailored to each person’s goals. I believe that everyone deserves the time, attention, and support needed to reach their goals.

Outside of the clinic, you can usually find me staying active in the gym, playing sports or exploring the outdoors on a hike.

I aim to help others experience that same sense of empowerment and find joy in movement, whatever that looks like for them. If you are feeling stuck, limited by an injury, or unsure of how to get back to doing the things you love, I’d love to connect.

What People are Saying About Us

“I recently worked with Dr. Ryan and he is excellent. His attention to detail was impressive, the way he explained every exercise thoroughly and made sure I understood each movement’s purpose. He also went above and beyond, offering additional resources to help. Incredibly cool to talk to as well, definitely recommend Dr. Ryan. Great guy!”

“I had a great experience with Ryan. As a PT student, I really valued the one-on-one, intentional approach—it wasn’t a typical busy PT clinic. Ryan was incredibly attentive, explained everything clearly, and I learned a lot while my shoulder improved. Highly recommend!”

“I have been unable to bench press for several months but I feel like I now have a real path to recovery. Ryan gave me a warm up sequence and form adjustments that allowed me to resume pressing lighter weight without pain. Very grateful, and looking forward to future gains!
